The BASICS!
Starting Friday, April 8th! (with ongoing/drop in start-dates!) Come join a brand new program being offered as a collaboration between Kids’Arts and Kids & Families Together!
Each week we’ll focus on a specific activity: Cooking, Sewing, Building and Growing! The cooking segment will include discussions and activities around where food comes from, how we choose what we eat, and actually planning and cooking food together. The sewing/fiber arts activities will include how to repair clothes that need buttons, hems, patches or “bling” and will send the youth home with the challenge of a small knitting or sewing project. We’ll also share how we make choices about what to wear, explore our personal style and how we present ourselves through the art of dressing every day. The third segment we will put our gross motor skills to the test, and give the youth basic skills in carpentry–we’ll design and build kitchen planter boxes which will lead to our final skill set, creating a small kitchen garden for herbs and veggies. This will be a fun, action-oriented, rewarding experience in a unique learning environment!
We are seeking interested “tweens” (9-14) and and teen mentors (15-19)
Classes are Wed & Fridays 4-6pm,(choose your day, or join both!) Classes held at the Artbarn in downtown Ventura Kids’Arts Programs are FREE!
A healthy snack will be provided during the sessions.
